BUTTER BISCUITS
I dont know about you, but I love butter biscuits.
Butter biscuits are a firm favourite in my household. They do not last long in our house. This recipe is easy, and you can ask your kids to help you roll out the cookie dough and use different cookie cutters.
Decorate with hundreds and thousands, or leave them and gobble up a plain butter biscuit with no toppings. My kid loves it when I add chocolate chips to the dough—just as long as they are not white chocolate chips!
The recipe is easy to follow, and you do not need a lot of ingredients. All you need is:
Butter
Castor sugar
Vanilla essence or extract
Egg yolks
Flour
If you want to add chocolate chips or decorate it with toppings, that is entirely up to you.
Butter biscuits
Ingredients:
75g castor sugar
1 egg
65ml oil
250g butter, softened
One teaspoon vanilla essence ( you omit this if you want )
500g cake flour
Method:
Cream butter until soft, then stir in oil. Add castor sugar and beat until light and fluffy. The consistency should be smooth and creamy. Add vanilla essence and beat well. Beat in egg. Sift flour and baking powder and mix into creamed mixture to make a fairly stiff dough. Roll out dough to 3-4mm thick on a lightly floured surface and cut out shapes with biscuit cutters. Place on baking sheets. Decorate biscuits with angelica and glace cherries and bake at 180C for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned.
